Bliz is my 12 YO Bischon (dog). He was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer a few weeks ago, and my vet advised me that chemo or surgery - were neither one a good option for him, so I started him on a special diet and herbals recommended to help dogs with cancer and started looking into other options. DCA seemed to hold promise, so I ordered some from pharm DCA and started him on 10mg/kg DCA/thiamine/caffeine protocol. I gave him his first dose Sunday night - Monday he was having more trouble breathing, wouldn't move around much and I had a hard time getting him to eat. Tuesday he seemed some better and yesterday was good and he had little breathing issues and ate well. Today he is coughing more and is eating OK. My question is - is this normal? I have read that people often feel weak or nauseated when using this protocol. Do I need to lower the dose -if given again - or since he had the issue with it - not give it and try something else? Or is it a good sign that he had this type of response? I appreciate any and all input.
