"Hoarseness as a side effect?"

Can anyone tell me if they have had experience with hoarseness as a side effect while using DCA?

My dad has been using the DCA protocol for approximately 10 weeks now. He has noticed trembling in his hands, some dizzy spells, breathlessness, and tired. He is also being treated with low-dose chemo and radiation so its difficult to say what may be causing it... possibly a combination..??

I'm planning to get in touch with Medicor ASAP for help but until then any input would be appreciated.

Cheers, Dianne

It would be helpfull to write what other supplements your dad takes. In breef, he needs high dose of vitamine B1 (benfothiamine is much better) at least 500mg/day, and also R+Lipoic Acid. In addition to that, he needs to rise his urine PH as high as he can get (a value >7.5 is OK). Taking 1 teaspoon of baking soda 3 times a day is an easy way for alkalizing his urine. Other supplements helping PN is also a good idea.

Thanks for your response. His other supplements include, caffine, apricot seeds, B17, 5-6 cups of coffee, B1 ( have to check how many mg....will up that right away) As for PH I've been reading everything to get that all figured out. At last check his PH was at a 5 = Acidic?? therefore, I'll get the baking soda started along with your other suggestions. Thank you so much!!!

Cheers, Dianne

I think I may know what is causing the hoarsness! The short answer is that it is nerve related... so be sure to read the instructions on using B1 and ALA to prevent neuropathy Read about it on the following links:
http://www.thedcasite.com/dca_safety.html
http://www.thedcasite.com/DCA_protocol/DCA_Tea_Protocol.html

What makes me think its nerve related?

Well, I recently went to see a thoracic surgeon because of a lymph node in my chest that they suspect has cancer. I was informed that if they operated to remove it, it could cause temporary hoarsness due to the fact that the node was resting right alongside a nerve that connect to the vocal chords!

So it is just a guess, but perhaps this same nerve is being irritated or inflammed when taking DCA and not enough B1 and ALA. Nerves need to be protected or it can cause permanent damage. I don't say this to scare you -- but just consider up-ing your supplement levels and see if it helps.

Putting the powder into capsules can help alleviate hoarseness. DCA is a known skin irritant. Also try drinking a glass of water after taking DCA, to rinse any residue out of the throat.

Take care,
Sandra

Radiotherapy is also known to cause hoarseness...my mum had five days of it (big doses) prior to surgery with a week's break in between but has just now developed hoarseness in her voice. She was warned it could happen but would resolve.

Best wishes
Kylie
