Other names are NutraSweet, Equal and Canderel. Aspertame is a precursor to phenylalanine, which is a precursor to tyrosine. Tyrosine is the precursor amino acid for thyroxin (the thyroid gland hormone).
DCA use inhibits the normal metabolism of tyrosine, which causes a build up in the body. It also likely prevents the body from making thyroid hormone. This would slow metabolism and may reduce effectiveness of DCA by lowering ATP production. ATP is necessary for apoptosis (natural cell death).

Donald Rumsfeld,, yes that one, was appointed FDA chief decades ago to push through this sweetener to eliminate the need for cuban sugar. Didn't matter to him that it kills people, still doesn't.
