"mesothelioma"

Hi everyone I was diagnosed with a stage 4 Mesothelioma in November 09. Having beating Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma ten years ago I was afflicted with terrible disease. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with DCA or any other treatments. I have had the conventional chemo (Alimpta/Carboplatin and Tarceva), but I am gradually getting worst. I have been on DCA since July 2010. There has been no tumour shrinkage with any of the treatments I have had including DCA. I dont know what amount to take as I am self medicating. I started of with very low doses and increased it to around 42 mg/kilo. If anyone out there has had any success with any treatments please let me know.
Cheers

I would suggest to read this message and my reply.

I think that beating tumor resistance to chemo has to be our fisrt priority before any treatment.

Adding Vidaza (azacitidine) and disulfiram might be a good approach to consider.

Thanks for the info. The items you mentioned are all chemotherapeutic agents?
Thanks

No, these items are not chemos, and have no side effects. However, they enhance chemos or other drugs by reducing tumor ability to resist chemo. Especially dissulfiram that can be also used as a stand alone treatment.

You might also consider treatment with CV247, a drug initaly used against dog cancer but with good potential for humans as well. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-35508/The-new-cancer-treatment-thats-thanks-vet.html
It has no side effects and can enhance activity of other chemos. In a paper I've read, in some cases they used platinum agents combined with CV247 at 1/5 of the dose, getting the same results. Do your own reasearch.
With my best wishes,
Dimitris

   Hi dimitrisk2,
Thank you so very much for all the information. Sorry for the late reply as I have been having trouble with this damn disease. I was told Friday that a rash that I have had now for the last few months which doctors thought was a drug eruption is actually post neoplastic syndrome and that the disease is progressing. I am due for a CT scan in the next week or so. I still cant find anything that will help with this aggressive disease. It looks like I am one of the few that DCA has no effect on. I had minimal asbestos exposure and contracted this disease. Despite 4 occurrences of Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, 2 Auto-immune diseases and a quad bypass this disease has taken its toll and is very aggressive. Doctors think the reason I contracted the meso is may be due to a weakened immune system from the previous Lymphoma.
I have been having trouble trying to obtain these compounds here in Australia. I value your comments, suggestions and help please email me at (billgeorg@hotmail.com).
Regards
Bill
