"Problems after 5-th day of using DCA"
| |
As I posted before my mom with Ovarian Cancer on forth stage began to take DCA at a doze of 10 mg/kg per day. On the 5-th day of the first week (taking DCA) she experienced the known problems of numbing and dizziness. Also heartbeats went high, over 120, for a while. She is afraid now to use it again. Today and tomorrow maybe also the day after tomorrow she will be off the DCA. I want to let you know that during last 2 weeks she is taking also lasix for getting out fluids that are created from the cancer. Please help me with any suggestion or instructions to avoid this situation again. Thanks, Archie Archie |

This sounds a low dose for there to be side effects from the DCA. However, the effect of DCA is known to vary from young children up to older people. Is she taking any supplements? What you are doing is right,. leave it a few days to seeif the symptoms occur without the DCA to eliminate it. Then re-introdue at say 5mg/kg/day and slowly build up. Billn |

Archie, If you google 'lasix side effects' you will find this site: http://www.drugs.com/lasix.html with this information:• Stop using Lasix and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: · dry mouth, thirst, nausea, vomiting; · feeling weak, drowsy, restless, or light-headed; · fast or uneven heartbeat; · muscle pain or weakness; · urinating less than usual or not at all; · easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness; · a red, blistering, peeling skin rash; · hearing loss; or · nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). • Continue taking Lasix and talk with your doctor if you have any of these less serious side effects: · diarrhea, constipation, or stomach pain; · headache; · numbness, burning, pain, or tingly feeling; · dizziness; or · blurred vision. I think your mother is having side effects from lasix - maybe she shouldn't be on it and DCA at the same time.
