"Dihydroartemisinin"

I've read that DHA (Dihydroartemisinin) is more potent than the other analogs, especially involving angiogenesis. Has anyone gotten their hands on this? If so, any word on dosage?

Thats where I buy my artesunate also. They don't carry Dihydroartemisinin. Thats the active metabolite of artemisinin and artesunate. It has shown much higher anti-tumor activity when it is used in this form.

I'll have to track down the study I read it in, but artensunate metabolizes into dihydroartemisinin, the others don't.

Wonder if you can ask for a prescription for Artekin or Arterakine - it would have to be off label use though. Malaria is the primary use. Here's a brand new article in Pub Med:

The two fixed-dose combinations of dihydroartemisinin and piperaquine (Artekin(R) and Arterakine(R)) were found to be bioinequivalent in healthy Vietnamese subjects. However, because the Cmax and AUC of dihydroartemisinin and piperaquine were only marginally different between the two formulations similar therapeutic efficacy is expected in the treatment of malaria infections.

I couldn't get this page to load, but here's another possibility:
http://www.cotecxin.com/en/products/
Dihydroartemisinin is sold in Africa as Cotecxin in 60 mg tablets, which is manufactured by Zhejiang Holley Nanhu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., in China.

Here's another possible source. I've had pretty good luck with ordering directly from Chinese companies. Would not hurt to contact and see if they will sell.

Here's something. I can't find what I originally read.

"There was a greater than proportional increase in artesunate and DHA exposure with increasing artesunate dose"
Eur J Clin Pharmacol. 2009 Jun 11.

Anamed,a charitable organisation, uses a special hybrid - Artemisia annua A-3, to treat malaria and HIV in Africa. The tea contains a lot of Artemisin and other constituents, and it is also used to treat cancer.

The leaves are available as raw material in Europe, but I think in other countries only the seeds are available.
