"DCA and Mesothelioma"
 
   Hi everyone I was diagnosed with a stage 4 Mesothelioma in November 09. Having beating Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma ten years ago I was afflicted with terrible disease. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with DCA or any other treatments. I have had the conventional chemo (Alimpta/Carboplatin and Tarceva), but I am gradually getting worst. I have been on DCA since July 2010. There has been no tumour shrinkage with any of the treatments I have had including DCA. I dont know what amount to take as I am self medicating. I started of with very low doses and increased it to around 42 mg/kilo. If anyone out there has had any success with any treatments please let me know.

   Hi,

Please can you give me more information, which organs are affected by your Mesothelioma? what are the results of Petscan?

Depends your answer, I could suggest something in addition of the DCA.

   Hi and thank very much you for the message. In the last PET scan I had early this year, The right lung has been extenisvely affected (i can give you more info from the raiology report) and a lymph node nearby. Also there is a spot on the right lung. I have been having some pains down in the bottom of the left lung and the oncologist said that it may be spreading to the diaphram. As I am due for another CT scan in about three weeks I wont be able to know if there is any disease progression.

   Thanks for all the info. I am having problems obtaining those item here in Australia. On Friday I was diagnosed with a post neoplastic syndrome (cutaneous)due to disease progression. They initially thought it was a drug eruption due to a diuretic (Lasix) but now say its because of the malignancy. I cant understand why other similar cases have has good results but my disease does not respond to DCA. The annoying thing is I have survived 4 bouts of Non Hodgkin Lymphoma, 2 Auto-immune diseases and a quad bypass to now be dying from this. What makes it so bizarre is that I had minimal asbestos exposure, the same as my brother, but doctors claim that its due to my weakened immune system from the Lymphoma. Who knows?

   My left lung some in the right and a few lymph nodes in the abdomen. I am due for a CT review in a month or so.
