"Can DCA cause seizures?"

I have brain cancer, and started taking DCA several months ago. However, since then I have had a few seizures - something which did not happen before.

Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone know whether this could be caused by DCA? I am only taking a small dose (10-12mg/kg), but am also drinking coffee on a daily basis. My latest MRI scan shows a slight increase in size of tumour, so I think this ism unlikely to be tumour lysis.

Many thanks

I follow this site since its early days, and as far as I remember, seizures are not known side effects related to DCA. When my sister got a CyberKnife treatment for two brain mets (from triple negative breast cancer), her doctor had prescribed an anti-seizure drug for precaution. I think you have to ask your neurosurgeon about it.

BTW, have you considered ketogenic diet?

It looks very promissing, especially for brain cancers. My sister is planning to try it for her mTNBC. My guess is that it has good chances to help in most cases with aggressive tumors.

Warning on caffeine: not all people can take large amounts of caffeine. And you may not need to take a lot of caffeine. At the very least, try 1-2 cups of caffeinated green tea with the DCA. You may need to consult a health care professional prior to changing your caffeine intake. This is a note I got from a doctor about this topic: "For brain tumour patients, consuming large amount of caffeinated drinks can trigger a seizure. This is a very important issue, since a lot of glioblastoma patients are using DCA. It can also cause nervousness, insomnia and palpitations. For heart patients, this can also be dangerous."

thia is written on thedcasite.com,
may be you should stop drinking coffee

Just don't take caffiene. My wife is fighting brain cancer as-well and caffiene causes her to have siezures and some times heart fluttering.

Stay off the coffee and dont eat any sugar what so ever (I.E no pop, candy or FRUIT)

Starve that little bastard at one end and smash it with the DCA on the other!

Good luck
