"all the info I can get"

   Hi,
My Mom has a brain tumor “Glioblastoma” and she has been on chemo for 2 months I'm new to this my mom weighs around 174 lbs and I want to start her on a safe a level of 8mg DCA without tea or B1, to avoid side effects and maybe add them later. According to the dosage calculator it works out to be 633mg, but i'm a bit confused and don't want to guess at it. Am I suppose to give her this amount (633mg) per day in an 8oz glass of water or juice? If a juice . . . . would any juice be ok? A prompt response would be appreciated.

Your calculations appear correct. You can give it to her in water or juice but do not use it in hot substances. As far as I know any juice would be OK. Some people take it once a day and others divide the dose and take it twice a day. It isn't difficult to take. I would suggest taking it at the same time each day.

It is likely you will hear from others that will recommend higher doses....pretty sure with this type of cancer higher doses have been shown to be more effective but you will learn more when you read further posts.

You can obtain scales off ebay....they are often called jewellry scales (or something like that) and they weigh small amounts and don't cost a lot.

The tea and B1 are part of the protocol recommended....

There are many people on this site who refer to glioblastoma (either caring for someone or have it themselves) and, if you take the time to review as many posts as you possibly can, you will find some useful information and perhaps find people to liaise with directly.

I wish you and your mother well!

With best wishes,
Kylie

I have mislead you with my comment about tea and B1....thanks to one of the forum members reminding me, it is NOT RECOMMENDED to take tea and B1 with brain cancer.

I'm still new here. But I do have some insight. TEA IS A NO NO!!

B1 I disagree with? My wife is part of the U of A study and they have her taking 16mg/kg of body weight, B1, pomagranate extract, "greens" (its the name of some sort of vitamine), green tea extract, Vit C AND ZERRRRRRO SUGAR...I.E NO fruit, no candy no ASPARTAME (fructose is ok). Brain tumours love that stuff...starve the little bastard!!!

The B1 is supposed to lessen the side effects. She got the peripheral neuropothy (pardon my spelling)...she stopped DCA for 3 three days and it never came back.

Hope I was some help...BUT KEEP READING, RESEARCHING AND MAKE YOUR CHOICE!!!

Best of luck to you and your mom!
